In winter season we can see long pods of cow peas.Though cow peas pods are long they are soft.There is another type of cow peas pod that is 6-8 inches long.Regular pods are about 11-12 inches long.While buying cow peas from market it should be white pods and and should not have small holes too.Inside pods there are small grains which are actually cow peas we eat.When pods get completely matured then these grains are taken out and are dried.The grains are light whitish and have a dot to the center.Some grains have black dot and some have burgundy color dot.These grains are kept in water and are used in our kitchen.
